What is Tent City?

Tent City has partnered with V8 Supercar Events in producing an affordable accommodation option for patrons attending the Townsville 400 July 10-12 2009.

How does it Work?

It's easy. Upon arrival on site, patrons are welcomed and escorted to their allocated tent - which has already been set up and is ready to move into. Tent City's attentive staff can help with luggage and parking.

Accommodation packages are available as sole occupancy, twin share or double occupancy. All tents are 3m X 3m in size. Twin share is ideal for two people whilst allowing plenty of room for beds, luggage and easy movement within the tent.

With a zippered door, shade awning and three large screened windows, the tents are airy and light. They are fully floored and carpeted for extra comfort and each tent is fitted with an internal light and camp-style beds with mattresses.

Patrons need only bring their own bed linen, pillows, towels etc, however if you purchase the linen inclusive package option, you will receive bed linen, pillows and your bed pre-made prior to your arrival so all you need to bring is towels and your personal items. Examples of the linen provided is shown on the right.

Each tent is tarped, which offers extra protection from rain, but patrons are asked to ensure that, in the event of bad weather, windows and doors are closed and luggage and beds are not touching tent walls.

Availability

Accommodation will be available from 12pm Thursday 9 July to and including the night of Sunday July 12. Check out will be 10am Monday 13 July.

Location

Tent City will be located at the Kirwan State High School, Hudson St, Kirwan, Townsville, which is approximately 9 kilometres from the circuit.

 

Free Bus Service all event weekend

10 bus services every hour from 7am - 11am will run to the Townsville 400 via Tent City each morning from Friday - Sunday.

Bus services will run from the Townsville 400 into town and also to Tent City from approximately 4pm - late in the evening Friday - Sunday.

All Tent City patrons can show their Tent City wristbands and they will be permitted to ride on any Sunbus service throughout Friday July 10 - Sunday July 12, providing a great alternative to hiring a vehicle for the weekend.

Sunbus will also have airport shuttles to and from Kirwan State High School on Thursday July 9 and Monday July 13, making Tent City a fantastic fly in and fly out accommodation option for patrons.

The Tent City hospitality marquee becomes a social area for patrons, and includes:

cold rooms/refrigerator

help yourself complimentary tea and coffee

BBQs

 toasters

ironing facilities

What you need to bring

You will need to bring your own bedding (sleeping bag or sheets, blankets & pillows, towels etc.) unless you choose the linen inclusive package options, which provide bedding and your beds are pre-made.

The tents are screened, fully floored and carpeted.

Facilities

There will be hot showers and toilets within the facilities' grounds.

Bar facilities will be set-up in the evenings and operated through a liquor license obtained by Kirwan State High School following state legislation and liquor licensing requirements.
